Inspiration

One of the hardest things to do in any arts profession or hobby is making yourself create something when you have can't think of anything to do. Writer's know this as writer's block and it effects every type of artistic expression - drawing, writing, music, etc.

For me, one of the best ways to combat this is to write down ideas on especially creative days (I keep a moleskin on me at all times for just this purpose) or to take pictures of things that I find interesting. Then, on those days when I can barely get an idea for a new graphical header for a client let alone a redesign on their website, I reference these ideas to help ignite the spark.

Below are some pics from my last trip to Japan. I took these while walking through downtown Kyoto with some friends. I've used all of these and many more to help inspire a variety of different projects.
