Wi-Fi!

I'm going on a cruise in two weeks with some friends. The ship leaves from Florida so we have to fly down there. The other day, I was chatting with some friends about the trip and mentioned that I was gonna take along my Nook and DS for those... leisurely moments and whilst on the plane.

And then we remembered this...

Maybe I should rethink what electronics to take?

The Battle for Gilneas and a few of my favorite things...

I was surfing around mmo-champion.com the other day and found the artwork for the loading artwork for one of the new zones in the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion. After finding it's way to my desktop, quite a few ppl have asked where it was painted from.

The mention of WoW and MMO remind me of some lists I need to make. While I promise not to break out into song, here are a few of my favorite things:

Project 2 and a study in Pliars?

So project 2 was about finding abstracts in everyday objects. I chose swiss army pliars. No joke. Swiss army pliars. Or that's what I'm calling it anyway. There are all these utility tools you can pull out of the handles just like on a swiss army knife.

I think mine ended up being a little bit boring. Maybe if I'd drawn the utility bits on the pliars - haha.

Sketch, Sketch, Sketch

During the same trip to Japan as the previous post, I decided to take a stroll around Kinkakuji and found some people making beautiful sketches. Here's one of them.

Inspiration

One of the hardest things to do in any arts profession or hobby is making yourself create something when you have can't think of anything to do. Writer's know this as writer's block and it effects every type of artistic expression - drawing, writing, music, etc.

For me, one of the best ways to combat this is to write down ideas on especially creative days (I keep a moleskin on me at all times for just this purpose) or to take pictures of things that I find interesting. Then, on those days when I can barely get an idea for a new graphical header for a client let alone a redesign on their website, I reference these ideas to help ignite the spark.

Below are some pics from my last trip to Japan. I took these while walking through downtown Kyoto with some friends. I've used all of these and many more to help inspire a variety of different projects.

Welcome

A few weeks ago, a friend and I had a brilliant idea - "Let's make a photography blog!" We didn't end up doing it. But when I saw that I needed a blog for my current art class, my first thought was, "PHOTO BLOG!"

So from now until December, I hope to show anyone reading this blog a photographic journey with a few art projects/thoughts thrown in for flare. Hope you enjoy the show!
